Shannon L. Wanko, 46, of Breinigsville, passed away at home on March 12, 2018 in the presence of her loving family. Shannon, wife, mother of twins and mentor of many, was a devoted first grade teacher for 22 years at Sheckler Elementary School in Catasauqua. Active in the community, she was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd UCC in Alburtis where she worshipped and volunteered her entire life. She was also an active volunteer to the Wheels of Time Street Rod Association. Shannon was the wife of William “Pete” Wanko. They would have celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on May 8th. Born in Allentown, she was a daughter of Stanley K. and Carol E. (Moyer) Smith, Sr. Shannon graduated summa cum laude from Kutztown University in 1992 with a Bachelor of Arts in Education.

She is survived by her husband, parents, son, Jakob; daughter, Hannah; brother, Stanley K. Smith, Jr. and his wife, Stephanie; sister, Stacey L. Brennan and her husband, Kevin; nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life including a light luncheon will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 pm Sunday, March 18, 2018 at the Camp Olympic Barn, 3120 S. Cedar Crest Blvd, Emmaus, PA.

In lieu of flowers a donation in Shannon’s memory may be made to Memorial Sloan-Kettering c/o the funeral home, P.O. Box 190, Breinigsville, PA 18031.
