Errol R. Nothstein

Errol R. Nothstein, 81, of Fort Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Kutztown, passed away Tuesday, December 20, 2022. Born in Trexlertown, he was the son of the late Ray W. and Mayola E. (Walbert) Nothstein. Errol began his career at the age of 12 by selling pony rides at fireman's carnivals in Trexlertown, Fogelsville, Wescosville and the Macungie Field Days. He began selling used cars in his senior year at Parkland High School. Upon graduating from Bethlehem Business School, he purchased the Ford Dealership in Kutztown. He became the first dealer to introduce mass selling into the Kutztown Market. The dealership consistently won performance and customer satisfaction awards. He sold it to Fred Jaindl in 1978. He was the developer of the Basin Street Restaurant Pub in Kutztown, in 1982. Errol owned a pre-owned vehicle dealership and car wash in Moselem Springs until he closed it in 1998. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Kutztown National Bank from 1970 until the time of its merger with the First National Bank of Allentown. Errol was a Board of Director Member, Executive Committee member and Concessions Manager of the Kutztown Fair Assn. from 1969 to 1975. Upon retiring from his Business Career, Errol held several positions with various Automotive and Construction related Companies. Errol enjoyed attending cultural and social functions with friends in the Berks and Lehigh County areas, as well as Philadelphia, New York, Harrisburg and Rehoboth, DE, and most recently in Ft Lauderdale, FL. Errol was a member of the Sunshine Cathedral, Fort Lauderdale, FL and the Metropolitan Community Church of the Lehigh Valley, Bethlehem. He was a member of Huegenot Lodge No. 377 F.&A.M., Kutztown, the Scottish Rite, Valley of Reading, and the Rajah Shrine, Reading. Errol is survived by a son Errol R. Nothstein Jr., wife Barbara of Fort Lauderdale, FL; daughter Pamela K. Pavlacka, husband John of Emmaus; two grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and four nieces. He was predeceased by two sisters, Jean M. Faust and Brenda K. Martin. Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
