William F. Deibert, Jr.

William F. Deibert, Jr., 95, of Allentown passed away on December 24, 2020 in Lehigh Valley Hospital. He was the husband of Alma P. (Prior) Deibert to whom he was married for 73 years in August. Bill was born in Allentown, the son of the late William F. Sr. and Iva F. (Kuhns) Deibert. He graduated from Allen High School and Muhlenberg College, Class of 1943. He served in the U.S. Army from 1943 to 1946 as a Cpl with the Army Medical Training Regiment. He returned home after the war and graduated from the General Motors Institute in Dealer Management and Accounting Program in Flint, Michigan. Bill met Alma, the love of his life while he was in Michigan. He was an associate with William F. Deibert, GMC Trucks, Inc. at 15th and Allen Streets, Allentown and in 1968 built a new facility at the intersection of Routes 22 & 309. He was a member of Muhlenberg College Circle of 1848 and on the Board of Associates. He was on the Topton Lutheran Home Development Committee and the GMC Trucks Dealer Council. He was past president of the Boys and Girls Club of Allentown. He was a member of Jordan Martin Lodge #673 F&AM, a Shriner, and a member of the Loyal Order of Jesters and Lehigh Consistory. Bill will be remembered for his banjo playing, fishing with his family at Porter Lake and golfing with friends in the Lehigh Valley and Scottsdale, AZ. He had a passion for gardening and his annual “Pumpkin Contest” with his good friend the late Bobby Kuhns. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit, Emmaus. He is survived by his wife, Alma; daughters, Linda Lee wife of Chris Frederiksen; Judith Rae wife of James Gaumer; Pamela Ann wife of Michael Borowski; grandchildren, Amy, Kelly, James, Michael, Emily, and Kelly B.; sister, Marjorie wife of Jack Rader. He was predeceased by sisters, Betty Boyer and Jean Plarr. Memorial Service will begin via Zoom at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
